We recently got voice mail through the phone company and the instructions are telling us to hit the switchhook or flash button. From reading the manual on our Comdial Impact I believe we can use the TAP button for this but it doesn't work. Possibly it isn't programmed right. How do you program this button to be a switchhook or flash button?

you need to program the flash time, and yes, you use the tap button. A flash is a momentary disconnect sent toward the telco. "How to" program depends on the phone system, the impact phone was used on several system flavors. This programming is installer level not a user or admin feature. As such, the instructions won't be listed in this open forum, rather you should contact someone here by private message or email, or hire a local tech to set it up for you. Mark

Start off with which phone system you have. That makes a difference.
Then we will know which feature code to try after you press Tap.
If we get that far and it disconnects the call, your flash timer is probably set to default (which will cause the disconnect) and at that point you would need to get an installer involved.
Or you could save the steps and get an installer involved first, and knock it all out at once.

All I know is that it is a Comdial Impact Phone System as I stated in the original post. What other information do you need?

I got this same question today as a PM from LukiLady, and I responded, but I'll let you guys work this out. My last suggestion was asking for a description of the cabinet in the phone room.
