We just had a visit from our Vertical Sales Rep, and he was demoing us the SBX IP 320. We were not super impressed. However, the networking & VoIP features do make the system appealing.

We noticed that the VM programming seems totally different than the Corp Office DX... I'm fine with that. However, are we giving up some awesome VM features when selling a SBX? Such as routing boxes, flexibility from the trans.txt, etc.

Basically, how do to the VM systems compare?

No comparison. The SBX is a glorified answering machine. The Corporate Office is far superior in it's flexibility and features.

That weak, huh?

I noticed that none of the comparison documents talked anything about VM. That's awfully convenient that they left that out!

Are you able to do different greetings per line or per UCD?

SBX seems to have the networking and voip but lacking in the key system features we all are used to and the voicemail is no where near the key voice platform. Why does it seem that the manufactures can not put out a great small system that has the voip-networking we need and keep the feature set of a comdial voice mail and comdial DSUII/DX120?

After installing the release 2 software and new voice prompts to the VMIB it not that bad. The new features make it way better than it was, still no comparison to CO, but much better. Since the system is made by LG-Nortel , the voice mail programming is similar to the Nortel flash system.
While playing back messages the dynamic buttons under the display provide next, replay, delete options, etc. programming the SBX via the PCadmin program is nicer and faster than the DX120. It does take some getting used to but I think it shows hope.

I'm hoping that it'll get better. I don't think they are going to extend the DX-120 to include networking/voip, so let's hope they get some bugs out of the SBX.

If we look at the DX-80 & 120 they were both buggy on the initial releases. Maybe the SBX rel 3 will have addressed some of these issues.

Or we can all dream that they will make a version of the corp office that works in the SBX!

I'm pretty sure that will never happen. The hardware comes from a completely different direction, the Vodavi side of the house. The release 2 is much better, check out the CCC to see the updates.

I don't think that will happen either, that's why I used the word dream!

If true that alone would prevent me from touching this system. I need to look into this.
