SBX seems to have the networking and voip but lacking in the key system features we all are used to and the voicemail is no where near the key voice platform. Why does it seem that the manufactures can not put out a great small system that has the voip-networking we need and keep the feature set of a comdial voice mail and comdial DSUII/DX120?
Tecom has a VOIP card for their platform but my understanding is Vertical isn't going to implement it on the DX-120. You can hook up 24 phones to the card but there are only 4 channels linking into the system itself.

Personally I think it would be more than adequate for the DX but we're not going to see it (last I heard).

they're putting all their eggs in this SBX basket. Apparently the product has and is doing well in Europe.

I agree, I have installed many dx80-120 systems and I really like this new system.

While playing back messages the dynamic buttons under the display provide next, replay, delete options, etc. programming the SBX via the PCadmin program is nicer and faster than the DX120. It does take some getting used to but I think it shows hope.

We keep getting e-mails and calls from Vertical wanting us to start selling the SBX. We're still cautious and will probally wait until another release is out. Learning another system now is not what we really want to do at this time. We're comfortable with the 80 and the 120 and our other system (VOIP)---the SBX seems to be a "niche" product that we don't really need, but if it's got features that are nice and it's stable---then we're going to take a look.

Our sales rep brought the SBX to our office. He was completely unprepared to talk to us. He couldn't answer the most basic questions about the system... That really turns us off. Still, the system still shows promise.

The biggest issue we have with the SBX is the voicemail. Honestly, it doesn't seem that bad on its own... BUT when we compare it to the DX Corp Office it is pathetic. It seems we have all become very accustom in having the CO (which can do anything you want) in a low cost system such as the DX.

That's our hold back on adopting the SBX. We'll probably sell the DX-120 until we HAVE to switch.

Ditto here. Poor voice mail and no PRI support makes the system worthless to us.

The CLECs are selling T1/PRI so cheap around here we're compelled to use it. The PRI on the DX-120 works rather well for a low end system.

I'm reviewing everything I can get my hands on before the DX is history. Unless there's a major change the SBX isn't it.

Supposedly T-1/PRI is coming in the fall/winter of this year (but we will see), so at least that would be resolved. The price of the vmail almost negates any of the bad points against it....if they would either release a bit more robust option or an outboard PC option that would make the SBX a great product for the price point. In short, while it is not as flexible as a Corp. Office DX it is cheaper and works fine for what it is, IMO.

As with everything - sell it in the correct arena and the customer will be happy....oversell its capabilities and the customer will not.

Steve
