Samsung makes a lot of different phones systems.

I was wondering if anyone could Rank the different systems. Perhaps in terms of the oldest systems up to the most modern system.

Which systems can use the Falcon phones, which systems can use VOIP, which systems can link with other systems(to connect branch offices) which systems can use the VOIP phones, Which systems can use the DCS phones.

Here is a list(which may be totally wrong) but just showing you what I have so far.

1.Prostar 816
2.DS 616
3.50si
4.idcs 100
5.DCS compact
6.DCS Regular
7.idcs 500

These are all the older models:
816
616
50si

There are the current models:
The idcs 100
DCS compact
DCS regular
iDCS 500

These can use the New Falcon phones:
1. DS 616 r2
2. DCS Compact
3. DCS regular
4. idcs 100
5. iDCS 500

These are the phone systems that can share parts.

DCS system parts works on iDCS 500 system.

This is my comparison list so far. Is this correct or is there information you wish to add.

Thanks.

The oldest system is the Prostar 816 which was analog.
There were also other analog sytems, the 120 I think.

From the newer digital systems
DCS (discontinued)
DCS Compact
DCS 50Si (discontinued)
DCS 400Si (discontinued)
iDCS100
IDCS500
iDCS616

All the digital systems can use the DCS phones and the Idcs (Falcon) phones except for the iDCS616 which uses its own 24 key phones and now the iDCS phones (release 2).

The iDCS100 and the iDCS500 are Voip enabled and can network. They also use the Voip phones.

Yes some parts of the DCS can be used on the iDCS500.

Do you guys think its strange that these 2 systems can be networked/ voip enabled and sound so closely related:

1. iDCS 100
2. iDCS 500

However these systems are totally different in terms of the physical system parts.

On the other hand, the DCS and iDCS 500 use like the identical parts except the iDCS 500 can use higher density cards. Yet the DCS is discontined.

I mean, don't you think the DCS is like the iDCS 500(lite) more so than the iDCS 100?

I don't find it strange in fact the 100 and 500 share the same feature set now.As for the parts being different, thats just the facts.
The DCS and the 500 share some common parts not all.Just provides an easier upgrade path for those who need it.
And the DCS was I think Samsung's first digital switch.Good system but replaced.Probably because its pretty much out of physical memory much like the DCS Compact. You will probably never see another DCS Compact software release unless its a bug fix.
The 100 was esentially a revamped 50 Si system.

We still have several prostar 816 and 56/120 units in the feild! They were ok for their time, but when the dcs (digital)came along we seen much improvements on quality overall (Less failure)! IMHO Samsung is as good or better than other popular brands. They seem to hold up very well!

So the most modern systems are the iDCS 100 and iDCS 500?

Phone system seem to last a really long time.

When did Samsung first come out with the iDCS 500?

How often do they make new models or do they just add more releases to upgrade the current systemsl(ike with the iDCS 500 R2)?

Thanks.

The 500 and 100 have been out a few years now, both are in Release 2 phase where Voip and enhanced networking features were added.
Look for the Oficeserv7200 in October which is a voice/data switch and the new wireless iP phones.
