Hello everyone.
I have some question about the Prostar DCS compact I and Compact II.
1. What is the difference between DCS Compact I vs Compact II
2. What software/hardware is needed to get caller ID working on this system? (DCS Compact Misc 2 Card,DCS Compact Caller ID Software, RAM2)
3. How can you tell if you have the right software for the Caller ID, is there a particular versin number your looking for?
4. What is RAM 2 vs RAM 1 ? 5. How many universal slots does this system have? 6. Has this been replaced with a newer system?
This would be for a house to intercom and Caller ID are extremely important. If you know the answer to any of these questions or have any information you think I should know about this system, please let me know.
Thanks for your help.

CompactII is a European system. Compact requires a misc 1 card, software and a ram 2 card for caller id.No caller id to analog ports. The misc card decodes the caller id,the ram 2 card adds memory for review lists(logs) and speed dials.Samsung has dicotinued the non caller id parts like the ram 1 and non caller id software. The compact is near the ned of its life cycle,I highly doubt you will see any new software for it,the latest version is 2.8
System comes 4X8 and expands with an expansion kit which has 3 slots for 2X4 DLI,2X4 SLI and Voicemail card (SVMi-4).You can also have a 2SLI card with its own dedicated slot and 10 DLI or Sli daughterboard cards. Essentially the iDCS 616 is its replacemnet although it is slightly smaller in size. The 616 is 6 trunks,12 digital and 4 sli ports as awell as voicemail. The Compact maximum is 10 trunks and 32 extensions but decreases with SVMi voicemail to 8 trunks and 28 extensions.
