Please help me understand what could be wrong. I am installing my second cabinet, thinking I had a bad board on the frirst. Now I am feeling like a complete idiot.
When I plug up a new handset/deskset it produces loud high pitched feedback. I have one extension that is working fine. The others all produce this feedback or the volume is so low on the line that if you place a call you cannot hear the recipient speaking when they answer.
Very annoying. My background is Avaya and so I have no experience with Samsung and am getting my feet wet as you can see.
Please help!

Try flipping your second pair, these phones are polarity sensitive. That’s what it sounds like to me.
Never mind after I reread your post you said you could make calls but the volume is low. Reversing the polarity will not fix that, but if it was swapped it will squeal and all the led’s will flash too. Make sure your not using silver satin cord on the punch blocks either. And plug the phones right into the ksu to rule out cable problems.

What is the first thing to test?
At the ksu, plug the one good phone you have into each modular plug station port. See if it squeels on any other ports. If it does, obviously you have a bad ksu.
Plug the other phones into a known good port. If it does not act up, the phone is fine.
Check the line cords to see that they are reversing not straight through cords.
If none of this, you have bad connections at the ksu, or bad jacks, or bad wiring somewhere.
The Bunnie did Samsung before Samsung was Samsung, back when Samsung made phones for Macrotel, the old white Excel phones. I'm old but I know how to trouble shoot the Samsung stuff.
