Hi All,
I just purchased a used iDCS 100 system. 6 x 16 4 port SVMi-4E and 8 28 button Falcon key sets. I asked it come pre programmed ext 210 - 225 customers preference. All I had to do was attach it to the wall, connect copper ground, connect 3 CO lines 8 ext lines to two 66 blocks. I used 701-703 for the CO lines. I used CAT 5e wire attached the blue pair to the 66 blocks and to pins 3 and 4 on what I know as a CAT 3 keystone jack at the workstations. All said and done and checked, I plug in the system turn on the power all looks good at first. I lift up a key set and have dial tone but the line is static I then notice the extension is 201 not 210 as expected. I also notice the Extensions connected to the 66 block #2 are hung at software version on the display and no dial tone. The extensions on 66 block #1 randomly rings w/ VM Alarm and Voice Mail light flashing. I powered off system and called the company I bought it from. It being Saturday I'm waiting to hear back Monday morning but wanted to pass this by the forum to hear others thought's as to what may be happening. I'm relatively new to the telecom side of things. Thank you all in advance.

It sounds like a mixture of things, like you have the stuff cross connected wrong. You realize by you installing it you have no more warranty on your equipment? It is only warrantied when it is installed by a Samsung certified technician.

Thanks for the quick reply SooprmanX. On the 66 block from the phone company attached are 3 Lines using 2 rows each on the far right posts with a bridge clip in the middle the stripe line on top and solid line on bottom of each pair w/ blue pair line 1, orange pair line 2, and green pair line 3. I connected using cat 5e to the same rows and same order stripe to stripe, solid to solid using blue pair for line 1, orange for line 2, and green for line 3 to the far left of the same rows as line 1 2 and 3. As instructed by seller I then took the other end of my wires to the 66 block labeled 701-706 for the incoming lines which are attached to the far right posts with a bridge clip in the middle I attached to the far left posts using my blue pair to 701(line 1) stripes on top and solid on bottom and the same using the orange pair for 702 (line 2) and green pair for 703 (line 3). For my extensions using CAT 5e blue pair, solid blue to position 3 and stripe blue to position 4 on the CAT3 keystone and to the 66 block which has the extension marked using 2 rows each attached from the system to the far right of the 66 block using 2 rows each and a bridge clip in the middle, I attached to the far left of the 2 rows the stripe blue to the top and solid blue to the bottom of each extension. I have cross connected a few systems before as well as move existing extensions for companies I worked for in the past without problems.... From what I have explained does it sound accurate? Thanks again

Is this a single cabinet no expansion cabinet system? There should be 2 25 pair cables coming out right? As to does it sound right thats hard to say because part of where extensions and lines would wire to depend on what slot the cards are in.The base cabinet has the first 8 digital extensions but your 6 trunks and next set of 8 digital extensions will wire out of the P2 cable. The phone ringing with vm alarm is normal after a power up until the voicemail boots up.It should stop if you pick up the handset at the phone and hang it back up. As for static on 201 what about any other sets?Do they work ok?

thanks pvj, It is a single cabinet and there are 2 25 pair cables coming out, and the wiring is exactly as you say it is. No, all the extensions don't work ok. If they're on the same block as the phone that has the 201 ext, they're static but I can get dial tone. Any ext's on the other block with the trunk lines never fully load up. They stop at the software version and they never show what ext they are, and when i pick them up there is no dial tone. And when trying to call from an outside line it is not ringing.

Hope this helps
The system will loose its memory after 7 days without power, so that is why it is defaulted at 201 or they didnt program it.
the ringing will default to group 500 which only has 201 in it.
if the blocks are marked correctly you should have no problem connecting the system. when you power up you need to dail transfer 800 and the system should take you to country code, you need to set it to usa. That should take care of the static. I dont think it is static as much as it is an odd sounding dail tone right?
as far as the version number on the phones that sounds like either a bad card or if you are positive the wiring is connected on the right pins then maybe the phones themselfs otherwise sooperman may be correct about the bridged wiring eg tip from one ext and ring from the next one will make a phone do that. split pairs are common when you mark a block incorrectly eg the pairs should be black/green first ext on the second block black/brown second ext and so on
good luck and keep us updated Thanks

This forum is awesome especially THE BUNNIE My first post was at 4:30pm and in just a few short hours later my problems are solved. This was a two part problem. To begin with as suspected but novice enough not to know the Blocks were missed marked from the company I purchased from. Secondly in the computer world when there is a problem if you shut down then system pull the power cord and press the power button afterwards to surge out the remaining power can sometime resolve an issue. As I have learned this evening it is bad in the Telco world. In the process of trouble shooting my problems stemming from the missed marked blocks I successfully compounded my problems when pushing the power button after unplugging the iDCS 100 system. I first want to thank everyone who rapidly responded to my posts. I especially want to thank THE Bunnie whom emailed me to call her stating that I was in way over my head. I eagerly took her advice and called. It was in a matter of minutes she determined the blocks were incorrectly marked. A few more minutes later it was determined I wiped the system. She graciously took the time to guide me through the whole setup process and reprogramming of the iDCS 100 system, which I could have never done at this point in my career. I am grateful to her and wish this world had more people like her in it for it would be a much easier place. Once again thank you all. I hope someday I will be able to contribute to those in need as well as you all have to me….

Its nice to hear kind words, we all get stuck from time to time.
On Tuesday I was cutting over a PRI on a Toshiba 424 and it was not working. I checked and double checked and had that sick feeling in my stomach.
I called Dave Youngman, the Toshiba guru of gurus and went throught everything with him. It all sounded perfect and he asked the one question that I should have thought of first, "Did you do a power down and up on the system?"
About two minutes later we were getting calls and making calls. In my panic I had forgotten the basic rule, "When nothing works, restart, it won't hurt anything, its not working now."
So, five days later I get to help somone else out of their panic. This is a great business because there is always someone to help and we are obligated because of the number of people who have helped us.
I was not the only one Sunday, other people pitched in. There is a spirit of helping others and counting on others that is not found in a lot of places and I can remember how many times I paniced and how many people came to my rescue and how much it meant to me to work with people like that.
