Hello all,
We are using Extensions and Mailboxes 210 - 227. Looking at the system I see listed a set of EXT 3501 - 3514. My customer wants me to create a series of 300 - 310 and 400-410 so customers can call and listen to recorded messages of rental and sales properties avail. Rentals being 300's and Sales being 400's. At the same time I would like to clean up and remove any non existing ext or mbx and I'm not sure the best way to accomplish this request. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you

E.. You need to get yourself to samsung technical training.
but, in the meantime... You can remove the 3500 series extensions and mbx from voicemail by deleting them in 724. the 3500's are virtual ext's and i find that its usually best to simply delete them until needed. just arrow to each ext and press hold.
then you will need to actually delete them from voicemail. you can do this 1 of 2 ways. 1) you can go to MMC 7?? "Voicemail Reset" and select download yes, reset yes. 2) go through the subscriber list in voicemail and press ctrl Y on each line you want deleted.
that should clean it up. be careful not to delete something you are using.
get certified.

A Different note
You know the 4E has very limited storage right? and only four ports. That said they might not want to do this rental and sale thing as it WILL consume the ports and storage in no time flat.
and yes get certified.

Another side note to BacherJr's response. The MMC he talked about setting download to yes is MMC 740. You need to be carefull with this one. In MMC 741 this is where the voicemail system automatically creates mailboxes based on yes or no for the extensions listed. If you set download to yes and reboot, you could wipe out some mailboxes that you didn't want to delete. Make sure all the ones you want to keep are set for yes there before you try this step. Also make the ones you don't want created set to NO. After your done make sure to set download back to NO as well.
I agree with getting certified though all that will do is help you find things in a manual. There's nothing like real world hands on to teach you how the system works. And of course forums like this one where there are lots of knowledgeable techs here. Good luck.

First All: Thank you very much for the quick replies. Yes certifcation is in my plans for the future. I'm actually an IT Consultant now exploring options and services in Telco and Dialtone. This is my 3rd system install, 2 KX-TD816 w/ KX-TVS50's and This one IDCs100 W/ SMVi-4e.(I Like)
Now this is funny. In getting my certifications for computer engineering my wife helped me study. By her helping me study she was able to pass the exams and acheive the same certifcation levels as myself yet can't tell you the difference between a hard drive or a modem and still thinks the whole computer is in the monitor.
Back on task: Can you suggest where for Samsung Technical Training?
I'm working in Voicemail remotely. SO I'm hoping everything can be completed that way to avoid a trip to location.
From Voicemail Subscriber List:
I removed 3501 - 3514. Do I still need to delete through 724?
I see EXT 501 - 518, EXT 7801 - 7824, Operator 500 No Messaging, MBX 201-209 and MBX 233.
Can any of them be removed?
My goal is to bring the system to the clients minimum requirements freeing up as many resources for future growth.
We advertise properties call us and dial ext 300 for this one 301 for that one etc.. The announce only mailbox has a brief property descript if interested call this person at ph#. My Clients company is 10 employees. (7 to be exact)Lets say on a record month he has 20 properties avail. Add the actually employees and properties rounded (30) MBX My understanding is we have 100 mbx and 2.5 hrs storage. Would we be only a 3rd of our capacity and ok? You bring up the Ports(4)which if I understand correctly means 4 calls can access the vm system at once? the 5th caller gets a busy or not availible message? Does this tie up the incomming lines also or when a person goes to vm is it released. What is a ratio ports per people? Would be possible to setup a queue with expecting wait time or am I expecting to much from the system. I explained all this to the seller. (thats been an experience in itself with the system arriving with mis-marked blocks and limited support. Eh but that's another story.).
The hands on works best for me. I can read and read but until I actually get in to it is when the real understanding begins. I started this same way with computers and now I provide many knowledgeable answers to many people just begining. I hope in this new direction I can do the same. I very greatful to everyone's help and hope to be as helpful to others in the future. Thank you Thank you very much.
