i installed a dcs compact & a starmail the other day. i built a vmaa group for the 2 analog ports going to the vm (group 519).

i've got the greeting recorded & the mailboxes built & the auto attendant stuff and so on.

here's the thing:
when i call in, i dial an ext (say 203 (which is call forwarded busy/no-answer to 519)). the vm transfers the call to 203 and it rings. after 4 rings OR if i am on the phone the vm pulls the call back and transfers it to the operator.

WHY?!

i see in function #405 (in the vm) in the vm there is an option that if the ext doesn't answer or is busy to go to 0. I CANNOT GET RID OF THAT OPTION. i can specify it to go to a ext, branch, or mailbox. but i want it to go to that particular mailbox NOT back to 0.

there is a note under function #420 (auto attendant routing) that says that screened transfers only applies to dial branches (which is what i'm doing) and all other transfers are blind (which is ok too if i could get it to work that way then the b-n/a in the system would take over).

the version in the vm was something like 14.1....

i defaulted the vm using function #100 to clear out all of the old data (which was some other company).

Dial branch screened transfers can be turned off use function 314.Try that and make sure that your forward busy/no answer timer is shorter than the transfer recall timer in the phone system programming.

What is the Call Forwarding set for the Extensions. If you are just dialing an extension, NO "Branches" are involved.

When the Compact recalls to the Startmail from a transfer, In-Band signalling sends # plus the extension to bring up the User's Mailbox.

As I read the post more, make sure all extensions are Blind Transfer.

changed function #314 to blind.

mmc 501 the system transfer timer is set to 60secs. att recall=60secs. callback no answer=30secs. camp on recall=60secs. e-hold recall=90secs. park recall=60secs. recall wait time=15secs. sys hold recall=60secs.

function 312 in the starmail is set for 4 rings.

still follows the function #405 option to go to the operator on b-n/a when i try to dial an ext in the system. for some reason it will not go to that exts vm box.

software version is 14.2.5
disk version is 3.3

now when i try to put in something different in function #405, say instead of going to 0 go to mailbox 204 instead. it STILL does the same thing. i can hear the vm pull the call back and transfer it to 0.

405 is set like this:
day greeting recorded
night greeting recorded
no buttons pressed to go to 0 in the day
no buttons press to go to 9999 at night
exts b-n/a day go to 0
exts b-n/a night go to 0

option 420 settings for auto attendant routing:
1=menu branch and contains my greetings
11=dial branch to ext 206
12=dial branch to ext 202
13=dial branch to ext 201
this shouldn't matter and it seems that function 405 is taking over.

mmc 726 in system:
ext for dn1=yes
trk for dn1=yes
ext for dn2=yes
trk for dn2=yes
seperator=no
disconnect=c
call type id:
direct call=*
all fwd call=#
bsy fwd call=#
noa fwd call=#
recall=#
dir trk call=*
overflow=#
did call=b
message call=*
progress tone id:
dial tone=ba
busy tone=4
ringback tone=5
dnd no more=6
hdset answer=3
speaker answer=2

only have mailboxes for exts 201-208 built. wiped all others out.

as i said before i wiped out everything via function 100.

what else could it be?

From your last post, the one thing I would change. In MMC 501, xfer recall to 12-18 sec. (or what you want)
