Customer wants to add an answering machine, I said "no problem...".
I set prg 38 to have ports 7 & 8 as SLT, set the jumpers to SLT for both ports.
I get dialtone but the port doesn't generate a ring. I hear it click, I can answer the call by going off-hook with my butt set, but it never rings, internal calls to it or external calls to it. Obviously the answering machine isn't picking up since it's not hearing a ring either.
Checked prg 31 - it's set for 3's for all lines.
All lines are set for unconditional ring and in prg 62 ports 1-7 are set to ring. :bang: :bang: :bang:

Try reducing the number of stations that ring as an experiment.

I seem to remember something about the older 816s in that you couldn't have all of the stations ring. Maybe try to ring only the SLT port with one line as a test.

Seems like the limit was 8 extensions though and you appear to be under that.

Yeah, I thought of that as well and programmed one line to ring the SLT only. Still didn't work. Besides it doesn't even ring on an internal call!

If I remember there are 2 pairs of jumpers/ DIP switchs located inside the cabine that have to be set per SLT port too.

Yup, I flipped both sets of jumpers. I wasn't getting dial tone until I did that.

Did you
1- assign slt stations in #38
2 ext /trunk use #31 slt has #3 for fax line only other trunks 0's
3 #43
4 #44 for fax line
5 # 62 day ringing to include fax line on sl station

The older 816 was limited to 8 phones ringing and 16 on 816 plus.
