Hello,

I have a 7100 (latest software) installed at customer site. All Phones VoIP (8) in office (2) off prem. Using embedded 8 MGI channels everything ok. Proper ports opened in router.

They are about to add more phones. Installed an MGI 16 in slot 3 and now get one way audio. Callers calling in cannot hear. VoIP phones answering can hear. Using copper lines. Unprogram MGI 16 for non service, everything goes back to normal.

Worked with Samsung support for 1 hour and cannot find what the problem is. Going to change out the mgi 16 next week.

Any thoughts ?

Two obvious questions, did you assign the new MGI card an IP address and did you connect the new MGI card to the network?

What happens when you try to access the new MGI channels directly?

Does the card show up in the system in the numbering plan? Did you add the new ports in your VoIP Trunks group?

Yes new MGI 16 has its own address 192.xxx.xxx.51
MCP10A 192.xxx.xxx.50

Yes the new MGI 16 is connected to network

Can access channels 8XXX Dial tone

Yes they show up in Dial plan.

Yes I assigned the new ports 3809-3824

Thanks for the answers, sometimes it's the obvious we overlook.

With that said, these phones are on the LAN side... correct?

I could see a possible problem if these phones were outside the LAN, but you appear to have everything setup correctly.

Hi Marc,

yes when this happens it is on the VoIP phones on the LAN inside.

I think we both agree if the problem happens on the LAN we are NOT using the router( right ports to be open.) I will say when I was testing I did not try a out side VoIP phone

I have had strange things hppen on a particular customer site on the LAN with one way Audio. Did a reg clear on the IP phones and issue went away. It was almost an ARP type issue where the phone worked fine where it was configured but had isues finding the MGI once it was moved to a new location. Anyway the reg clear fixed it.

We recently (last week) had a similar situation.
Turned out to be the MGI card. This in spite of the fact that Samsung says they've never had a bad MGI card.......
