Has anyone ever seen a situation where the VM resets for no apparrent reason?

We've got a 7200, SVMi-20, 1 16DLI, 1 Combo, and 1 16CO in a system. We've enabled email notification for all users. We're seeing the VM do a reset 4-6 times a day for no apparent reason.

At the factory's direction, we've replaced every single part, including the cabinet and it's still happening. We've connected the system to a smart ups that provides voltage buck & boost. We've setup the equipment we've replaced in our shop and it has been running flawlessly.

Obviously we suspect some sort of environental (power?)cause, but we can't seem to pin it down.

Has anyone EVER seen this sort of system behavior?

We've been chasing this for months, replacing one part at a time, to no avail.

Any thoughts out there ???

I once had a system that was plugged into a receptacle that was the same as the the elavator the system would reset when someone used it. Also had a sytem flake out because some of the feeds were running next to the neon lights.

The system doesn't reset,
Just the SVMi 20.

Check the alarm history and see if it gives you any clues as the why it is resetting. If it is a watchdog reset, welcome to the club. Plan on reinitializing, putting 4.46d on it if it doesn't have it already, and reprogramming from scratch manually.

You know how tech support also says 'it will be the database, you might have to initialize the system'??

Well, this may be that case - for real. Make sure the SVMi-20 has the latest software on it also.

It resets multiple times in the middle of the nite.
We've already gone thru the re-init and manual re-program, on two different mp20 and svmi's.

You have seen the alarm history and there is NO report on the system, just the alarm? Not challenging you, just checking.

Is there a dramatic temperature change at night?

Could it be getting very hot with air conditioning shut off? I had a Toshiba where I told them not to put it in a closet and sure enough they build a closet and closed the door.

There was a temperature sensor on that Toshiba which shut the system down if it overheated. Ten minutes after opening the door it turned itself on again.

Computers don't like heat and the vm is a computer.

While i have never had a VM do it, I have had OS7000 and old OS500 system flake out due to the network having issues.

Try unplugging the lan cable overnight and see if this stops it

No dramatic temp changes. Happens day ( while system is in use ) and nite. The system is NEVER affected.

Unplugged the LAN connection Wed AM. No problems all day and nite. Plugged LAN connection back in Thurs AM. Still no problem. It may stay fine for a couple of days, then the resets will begin again.

I know it's environmental, but I can't pin it down.

All the equipment that was swapped out is in our shop running flawlessly. This equip was at customer site resetting.

Perhaps disconnecting the Lan might work if someone is hacking into the Management interface of the SVMI. Is the password something other than default? Is there access from the Internet?
