Hello all,
we have a customer who has been using email gateway for the last couple years. They have a os7100 with 4.53b software. It has been working fine up until this last week when they had a new exchange server installed, and now requires ssl authentication. I've contacted their ISP, which is a local provider and they do not offer smtp. My question is this, has anyone else run into this, and what may you have used for the smtp? I tried setting up a gmail account, but apparently they use ssl as well. To my knowledge these 7100's still do not support SSL?
any input would be appreciated.
thanks!

You are correct about the 7000's or SVMI's not supporting SSL/TSL. www.inbox.com www.lavabit.com You can set up free accounts here and use them as the SMTP relay.

Just grab a free smtp server from somewhere (eg download.com, i use mail enable) and set it up on a pc and point the OS7100 to that.
I've had todo this in the past due to the problems with offsite mailservers, and to proove to a customers it guy that it was his server config that was blocking the email not a problem with the system

There is also gmx.com for free smtp relaying.
On another note. I have a 7100 that has had many issues sending out emails via EMG. I've just replaced the MP10 with an MP10a and the smtp services "hang" during a session which delays emails by up to 10 minutes.... Anyone else experience this? Any suggestions?

There was an issue from about 4.14 to 4.30 with the mp10 where if the smtp server was outside of the local lan then the email would not go through. There was a 4.30l release here to fix this and it was also fixed in 4.4x.
What does the port activity screen show during this?
Depending on the size of the message it can take a while for it to convert the g.729 (mp10) or g.726 (mp10a, os7030, mp20s) file to a wav file and send the email

I was thinking about the LAN issue. The system is outside the lan, directly on PUB IP. It is MP10a with 4.30i Guess I'll have to bring it inside....

Define hangs? can you get the SMTP logs from the mail server and see if it helps?
