I am starting to put feelers out for possible work or even a job. I've been in the business for about 25 years and worked with most small to mid-size systems out there. I work hard and will give 100%. My current employer hired a bad sales person (nine months ago) and we think he gave our customer list and turned customers over to another company. The boss will never be straight with us and one minute he will put more money in the business and the next he says he's done. If anyone out there has any ideals I would love hearing from you. Thank you all so much! Stephanie

My advice....
If all your experience is around where you reside.....you should have no problem becoming self-employed.......
Yeah its tough.......but the feeling of working for yourself and not just punching a stupid timeclock is great.......
I have used reverse phone directories and sent out postcards advertising my biz....sometimes you get a hit sometimes you dont.....
If you specialize in 1 certain line of equipment, take a high quality photo of that brand, design a 4x5 postcard and send it off to a postcard printer on-line....
Spend about 3 or 4 hundred bucks and get a ton of them printed....or visit an ad agency and have them design a logo for ya.......
I gave up working for interconnects...nothing but headaches and pressure....the boss makes all the money and you get SH-T......
BUT MOST OF ALL......after 25 years of experience you should not have a problem....keep smiling and endure it.....
If ya want to relocate to NJ (why in hell!!!) there is alot of work in the NJ/NYC areas...just bring a lot of dollars and quarters for all the friggin tolls.......cause we got em all here......
LEARN THAT PARTNER & NORSTAR STUFF...thats covers about 60 percent of all the installed garbage....
Hope this helps........
Have a smiley day.......Mitch Taylor

Thanks, I used to be self-employed. I had gotten so busy that I burned myself out. So I sold the company to a computer outfit and went to work for them (promisses of lots of help and support, yea right). Stayed there for 18 months but had a nervous brakedown. When I told them the doctor said I needed time off they could not give it to me as I was still the only one doing phone work for them. Gave them 6+ weeks to find a replacement then moved to Omaha. I may do self-employment again but not much cash to start with and that is scary. I WILL SERVIVE!! Stephanie
Thanks again
