This card provides lightening protection. This was one of the last executone enhancements.

I have only ever seen lightning protection on the OPX card.

I think what he means is you are not supposed to be able to short a port by wiring it wrong. It has gas tubes or something, (maybe just hot air, cha cha cha) It's a complete crock. You can short them out.
