I have an adix tower system. About six incoming trunks go to the VMI card and play a general greeting. When a call comes in it rings for about 4 rings and then transfer to the greeting. Does anyone know where in class and item I go to shorten this time.

The call forward no answer timer is in class 4 item 13. There are a couple of other timers that help to indicate the fwd. to general greeting. I would start here first though.

Are you talking about a new call to the general opening greeting on the voicemail system or a caller that has dialed an extension and then forwards back to the users mailbox

What type of trunks? CO Lines, DID Trunks, T1 w/DID's, ?? Are these lines that ring elsewhere and then go to VM? Where is it ringing for the first 4 rings? Provide as much info as you can... How familiar are you with database programming?
I thought you said that your system was down...

The trunks are CO lines. These lines use to ring the main offices (JR and Sr high) in the school but we added a VMI card to the system. Now the lines go directly to the VMI card to play the greeting and the caller selects where they want to go. The 4 rings is what the caller hears before the VMI picks up. The lines go to the VMI hunt group in 11.34. There is nothing in 11.32 or 11.33.

In a typical installation, we put phone extensions in that group, then overflow the group to the group number that the VM extensions are in. Phones that are in the group ring immediate, unless you have Caller ID enabled. In your case there may not be a timer to adjust. Do you have caller ID enabled for these trunks? If so, callers calling into your system will hear at least 2 rings before the system answers. What happens if you put a single line set on the trunks and call in? How many rings before the phone rings?

Confirm in 08.02.47 that you have the 4 or 8 logical ports that the vmail card is assigned in hunt group 47. Like XConnect said, caller id will delay calls to the system for 2 rings, if no caller id from telco, change 01.03 for the lines to be standard loop start lines and reset system. Call each vmail extension to confirm they are all answering immediatly as a test also. Hope this helps
