I have a client that has an Iwatsu Adix. He has 13 lines in a hunt group all hunting. He has two companies and wants the hunt groups split up into two, one for one company and the other for the other company. He also wants the receptionist phone to ring in such a way that if you call the one company the reception phone will ring, say line 1 to 6 so she knows to answer with one company name and if it rings line 6 to 12 to answer the other company. Is this possible?

Hunting is setup by the telco .... they can do what you are asking.

Oh, so nothing has to be changed in the phone system? I don't need two Auto Attendants or line groups to do this? I knew the telco does the hunt groups and figured we would have to have them do that part but I thought something was needed in system to make it work at the reception phone. Also, I was told I needed to do tenant sharing which I cannot find anything on how to do that.

For after hours you would need to set up a 2nd greeting that answers for the second hunt group.

But to clarify what you guys are saying, all they need to do is have the phone company split the hunt groups and then setup perhaps a second general mailbox for the second hunt group? No deeper programming on the system?

You can set things up as simply or as complicated as you want in this case. Have TELCO set up your different hunt groups, make the lines in hunt group 1 ring with one ring tone, hunt group 2 with another tone to make it real easy for the receptionist, then set hunt group 2 to ring to it's own mail box. How easy or effective this is will depend on the voice mail system you have, but it's not too difficult in any event.
