You mean it has built in voice compression to save on bandwidth and has priority allocations for voice transmissions ? Since retransmitting voice packets makes for a very poor telephone conversation .

I don't know why on a local lan you would need to compress, I mean 100mb switched is alot of bandwidth and with QOS it shouldn't be an issue.
