Does anyone know how many concurrent conferences are supported by the ACPU?
What happens when the limit is reached and what does a conference card do if anything for more conferences/Priority on conference?

From experience the volume drops off somewhere between 5-7. The conference cards give you the logical paths between cabinets to conference. Adding a conference card to a single cabinet doesn't add circuits.

From what I can glean from my system manual, if all the participants are in the same cabinet, the card isn't used and up to 30 participants (or conferences? hard to tell) are supported.

This is the info that was posted on the Ex-Executone Board, By one of my good friends.

At least 1 conf card (21600) must be installed in each cabinet of a multi-Cabinet System 432 or 648. Conference Port Cards are added in groups 2 for a 432 & 3 for a 648. However for each group of conf cards installed, the maximum configuration of the system is reduced by 24 (For the 432) or 36 (for the 648) The conf card provides 12 Conferencing circuits. Whenever any of these features are used in a multi cabinet install the systen allocates conf ports as needed
1. Conference
2. Barge -In
3. Add On Conf.
4. Tap-On
5. Public Line
6. Dia-Log (Record a Call)
7. Silent Monitor
8. Paging

These resourse are used when any of the above features span across multiple cabinets. If all parties in a conf call are in the same Cabinet (IDS 228) then no conferencing ports are needed.
Refer to Installation Manual P. 500-32

Each Cabinet/IDS System (without a Conference board) IDS 228 can handle up to (4) 3 party Conference Calls. The Conference Card would only be needed if the system was a 432 or 648.

Your best bet is to add a Forum Conf III Unit (8 or 16 Port) with Analog Station Ports if the user of the system is having db issues. The IDS was never a really good conferencing switch.
