thanks nonameyet, indeed it did work with the ECPU in the 432 port configuation. The ECPU in the second cabinet was a complete replica of the ECPU in the first cabinet and the options as well as system data was present in both.
With the advent of the ACPU they changed it so that the options were held ONLY in the ACPU in the first cabinet and if it failed, the ACPU in the second cabinet was of no use as it only held the system programming and NONE of the options.
As my original post states, the claim was that someone could actually download/restore an IDS 3.0 system to a blank ACPU and have the options migrate with it.
I do not believe that it is possible, but i am hoping that someone can prove me wrong
