my building has 23 cameras that display (in sequence) on a cable tv channel. i was set to sell them upgrades for their old dvr and install some IR cams. a question came up in talks, is it possible to scroll text across the screen on the catv-cctv channel? my initial thought was no, as i had never seen this done. but after asking around some, im left with the impression that its not only possible, but doable.
ive searched and searched, contacted several of the major DVR makers; they all say they dont have firmware that would support it.
any ideas?

If you're talking about a scrolling feed like the stock ticker at the bottom of the screen on CNBC or like the TV stations use when bad weather approaches, the feed has nothing to do with the DVR. The DVR feeds directly into the encoder and the encoder feeds to the uplink. The ones I've seen work just like a closed caption encoder.
On the other hand, if you're talking about a text feed that goes into the DVR, there are feeds for that. A prime example is for cash registers. You can have a camera pointing from behind the register and have everything that is rung up on the register scroll across the camera and record on the DVR.

closed caption encoder. pure genious
have started researching the subject and finding it may indeed fit the bill. they want to be able to 'flash' or scroll text below the feed to tell of upcoming meetings, other events (pool closed, water turning off, etc). this may indeed work. thanks mucho.
