Hi folks, we have a VX3 voicemail system connected via in-band integration. Whenever a caller leaves a voicemail and the recipient listens to the envelope information, it reports the message was left by "an outside caller" rather than the phone number of the caller. I have not been able to find much information in the VX3 documentation about whether or not caller ID is supported.
I would assume that the support is there, because when subscribers leave messages for eachother, the envelope information states the message was left by "subscriber X" etc.
The only possibility I can come up with is that since the VX3 is integrated with in-band signalling, it is using analog ports which don't reproduce the caller ID. So my question is: if I switch to an RS-232 connection to the VX3, will the CID info be transmitted properly? Or do I need to get ahold of an EVX or DVX? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply. Yes, the system does have caller ID support. We have the CID info appear on all our phones and it transfers properly with the call.
I had a feeling the CID data wouldn't work through in-band integration. Does the VX3 support it through RS232 integration? Do the other models such as EVX and DVX support it? Thanks.
