I need help. I have a customer with an IDS 84. They had a DVX voicemail that just died. I have replaced it with a VXC voicemail. All works EXCEPT it the MWI on the phone. They phones have an 830 voicemail key. When you look in the status screen of the VXC is shows the MWI light lit but on the phone it is not. I am pretty sure this is a setting in the IDS 84 that was configured for a DVX voicemail instead of a VXC voicemail but all programming looks good. NOT sure if anyone knows another setting I can check. Any help would be appreciated as I am ready to pull out my hair.

Check the B screen programming for the Voicemail port settings, I'm trying to remember on the VXC and the 84, their might have been a 10 pin cable that plugged into the front of the vxc and the other end went to the 84 expansion I/O card. The other thing it might be, what Options are on the CPU? You need " VMS and VMI "

It depends on the software level of the 84 if you need the cable going to the RS232 port to light the led's on the phones or do transfers from CCR applications. If you will post the software level I'll check my notes. And correct you should have VMS VMI in listed as the options. Sounds like you do have older software in the 84 otherwise the options would have come up when you installed the card. Will wait to hear back. Or PM if you want.

The software level is 8.2.1. The options are VMS and VMI. Options out of the CCR boxes work correctly. They are using 3-digit dialing as well. I don't think the 3-digit dialing is causing a problem because it works when dialing it out of the AA. The only thing that is not working is the lights illuminating when a message has been left. I know we have done this before but now that I am looking back I believe all of those systems were 8.2.4. I would certainly appreciate if you could let me know if we have to change out their chips to 8.2.4. Thanks for the feed back fellas!

Brenda,
You can fix your problem by going to the voicemail D Screen and change the extension number there that is listed as the MWI extension number.
It most likely is a 3 digit extension because that is how you entered the mailboxes in the mailbox set up screen. It has to be 4 digits in that screen
to light the led's on the phones. Just hit enter until you are on that entry then press F1 to clear the field. Enter 4 digit extension nunber. Then
F5 to save.
That should correct the problem if not let me know.
Thank You

one other thing I just thought of, If the mailbox already has a message in it, and you are testing to see if you can get the MW lit up, Delete all the messages first. because the system " thought " it already turned on the lite.

MC you are so definitely my hero. Not sure where you are but if you reside in MD and my husband agrees - I'd be taking you out to lunch. That was the problem. Is that only on an IDS 84 that is using 3 digit dialing? I have an IDS 108 with a VXC voicemail that uses 3 digit dialing. The MWI is the 3 digits in the D screen of that voicemail. Just curious
Thanks for your all your help - both of you. My brain is fried from all this. Going to need a trip to Hawaii to recoup!

Not sure why that other system works. Rule was if using 3 digit extensions you had to go back and change the D Screen in the voice mail to 4 digits for the MWI extension. The C Screen is ok with the 3 digit extension being there but the MWI had to have 4. Glad it's fixed. I'm in GA so will have to miss the lunch. ;>)
