We have an IP phone in the field that hasn't worked since we sent it out there. Obviously something is misconfigured, either in the phone itself or in the IP card configuration in the Inter-Tel system. I have a call in to the local vendor, but all the guys are on the road and I won't hear from them til tomorrow. In the meantime, an angry sales guy is sick of paying his cell phone bills.
From my end, looking at the button on my phone programmed to give me status on him, it appears "unplugged."
What is the most likely problem and what do I need to know from him to determine whether the phone is misconfigured or something at my end is wrong?

Do you have other users outside the internal network? The ip address the ip phone try's to connect to needs to be a public address. Is the user behind a firewall at home? I would look at those first...
