I am trying to connect to a Stratagy IVP8-R1 using the Stratagy Voicemail Manager and a DB9 null modem cable. I purchased two different DB9 female to female cables and no matter which one I use I get the "handshake failed. wrong baud rate or *****" error message. Could it be the cable I am using? When i connect to the LMVU using the proper connector it works however I have not been able to connect to any other voicemail card using either cable. Are there any setting inside the comp that need to be changed??

What baud rate are you using? should be 9600 by default.

I have tried changing them as well as the port in voicemail to no avail.

I've heard that the Stratagy requires a special cable with a couple of the pins bridged together - you should be able to find the pinout in the manual.

We have some custom built cables that we always use, so I'm not sure about a normal null-modem cable.

Are you connecting via a laptop?
or are both ends of your cable Db9?
Are you connecting to the correct Db9 on the Stratagy VM--> Port 1?
Are the Communication parameters correctly set on the Stratagy software and the com port of the PC/Laptop?
And finally are you sure your using the correct version of Statagy Admin software for your IVP8?

Stratagy IVP8-R1 should work with a null modem cable, but the baud rate on the admin program is 9600 and the ports are reversed on the voice mail.

I am using a laptop
both ends are DB9 it is a null modem cable
I have tried both ports using all parameters in the Stratagy Admin program. It is the newest version of the software as per my vendor's website.

Anyone out there know a place that sells the exact cable I need?

Connect using the modem and check the serial port parameters once you're in.

I will try that and I also ordered a new cable. This was a voicemail I purchased from my vendor which was reset back to factory settings.
