Is there a way to connect a laptop directly to the Terminal port to admin the switch. 3Gsi switch.

Robert... You can do it..it's a PITA, you need a 355 adapter, D8W cord and the correct adapter for your laptop and have to run DSA or ASA in term mode..set it up for "direct serial port connection" Easier to just run ASA and use the "inads" port from an ext in the switchroom;

Thanks Bob,
The problem is that all of the wires have been pulled and there is no record of the ext number to port. So I have no way of connecting to the INADS port without an extension number or pots line.
You are right about the terminal connection, it is a PITA!

Connect a modem to the inads port and put a dial tone to it.

I do it with a USB to 9 pin Serial adapter out of laptop and a 9 pin to 25 pin cable. Works fine
