I have never seen anything in print especially documentation that explains the programming like other manufacturers provide. So if you want certification you have to travel and take their cla$$es.

Avaya is kinda like Siemens Communicatioins, THEY dont want anyone but a certifed technician working on your equipment. Its a double edge knife and you either deal with it or pay to be certifed. BUT on a good note, Net video's on a very popular site that I wont mention, may help if you already have admin software and can set up test phone to practice on.

Also, unless you are an Avaya BP you won't be able to take their classes. You practice on a demo system that you have to buy, though at a somewhat reduced price. It has fully functional licenses for all versions and is available only to BPs.

As for those videos, the IPO has a very steep learning curve so anything less than hands-on instructor led classes and considerable experience after that isn't going to teach you much.

Well, I think you'll find more uncertified BPs and trunkers with no qualifications (who Avaya seems to be happy selling gray market to) than BPs who are certified and know what they are doing.

Are you sure about that? I was thinking that techs could get certifited on service but just couldn't sell product.
But I may be wrong.

Well yes, a BP can send their techs.

I'm pretty sure that a "tech only" can get certifided on IPO without the help of a BP.

Again, I may be wrong.

Not sure about that, but why not learn it the right way, or have the installing company handle it. That's what your paying for.

I had to give our BP number to take the ACIS exam within the last month.

BTW, if I had it to do over I'd probably challenge the exam instead of taking the week long course!
