Hello,

I'm attempting to connect our Telrad TVSe to another system with SIP. The other side is the latest copy of AsteriskNOW, a popular open source PBX. I think I'm close, but I'm lacking documentation and the ability to debug the Telrad side, so I've hit a bit of a wall.

Previously the system had 4 SIP DNs on the TVSe in the same trunk group, all pointing to Gateway #1, which is the IP address of another TVSe. For my testing I decided to steal one of these channels since only one person in the office uses this bridge, and he certainly doesn't need 4.

I added a Gateway #2 in eManager using the IP and port of the Asterisk box. Then I told the last DN in the trunk group to use Gateway #2. I also created a corresponding SIP trunk in Asterisk that points at the Telrad box.

So far they seem to be trying to talk to each other, but I can't get a call started from either side. When Asterisk tries to call Telrad, it gets a 480 Temporarily Unavailable response in the logs. I haven't had as much luck trying the other way because I'm not sure where to look for logs.

When I log into the TVSe's web portal, I can see the trunk shows out of service. The corresponding status on the Asterisk box actually says its up. This leads me to believe that either I need to do some additional massaging of the Asterisk config to make it Telrad compatible, or possibly that the steps I did above to add the gateway were wrong.

This is a good learning experience for me, so I what to try to work the problem myself as sometimes we only learn by tinkering and tormenting ourselves. But I need a pointer on where to go from here. Does anyone have the documentation the SIP trunking settings in eManager? Where can I debug and see error messages on the TVSe? I saw the TCP dump thing, but it just seems to be raw traffic and not error messages. Do I need to step back and reconfigure the Telrad side differently?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have but 3 things to tell you.

1st get a LIFE. It's NEW YEARS DAY.

2nd You have a kind of SIP called Net Trunks, Telrad's proprietary SIP. It only works TVSe to TVSe.

3rd To do SIP stations you will need a new license and system upgrade to Rel 4.2 and licenses for SIP stations.

Now turn off the systems and go find something to do OUTSIDE with friends and family.

Happy New Year.
