Is there a version of UM for a PDA? (Windows Mobile). I'd like people that are frequently on the road that have PDAs to be able to get their voicemails via email on the PDA rather then having to call in the office every so often.
Is it possible?
Thanks, Andy

Morning Andy. How are things out in beautiful Rhode Island? Here's the good news. You don't even have to run UM software to get voicemails. Our people get their voicemails on PDAs or even cell phones. Here's how we have it set up. Level I UM will send the .wav file straight to the email box. Our people are using Outlook to check their email. What we do is check the box in Outlook to leave a copy of messages on the server for 14 days. Now even if their computer is on at work, and Outlook checks the email, there is still a copy of the email with the .wav attachment in the box. When they check the email from their PDA, the .wav file comes in and they listen to it. As for cell phones, we set them up a little differently as they don't want a copy of all their email going to their cell phone. Those who get their VMs on their cell phone have an additional email address that does a multibox blast. For instance the AxxessoryTalk sends the email to [email protected]. davesmail is nothing but a forward that blasts to Dave's real mailbox, and to Dave's cell phone. When Dave gets a VM, the .wav goes straight to his cell phone. No calling in to check messages etc. He just presses the read key and the .wav plays on his phone. I have mine set up to do all of the above. Desk, PDA, & cell phone. Hope this helps.

Hi, RI is getting warmer (finally!). I had a question about how you set this Um Level I up.
I have 2 servers on my Inter-Tel Rack. One is a UC/Sip Server and the other is a VoiceMail server. The IP I point my UM software to is the IP of the VoiceMail box, so i'd guess that's where the Um server software should be... but it's not. I've also checked the UC/Sip box and haven't found anything.
Where is this installed? Is it installed? If not should I install it... i have the CD.
I wasn't here when the system was put in i 04....
Thanks! Andy

Level 1 is part of the AxxessoryTalk software on the NT4 boxes and I believe the Win2K boxes as well. Although I think there are only 5 complimentary licenses. It's just a matter of putting in the SMTP server information etc. under Email Gateway.
I perhaps wrongfully assumed you already had all that set up.

So if i don't see any AxxessoryTalk software in the start menu i'm sunk correct? Would this have to be installed for unifiedmessaging client software to function? or is that all done from the client?

Well, not really. Maybe I didn't make myself clear. You actually get to the settings by using DB Studio (the Axxess Programming Software.)
You go in and set up the SMTP gateway, and then set the email address for each of the mailboxes. You will have a selection to "Forward" which means just take the VM message from the VM box and forward it to the email address, and you will have a selection to "Copy & Forward" which will leave a copy of the message in the VM box and also forward a copy to the email address.
As I mentioned earlier, I thought you were already set up to this point. If not I apologize for the misunerstanding. Turning all this on is rather easy if you know what you're doing, but like many Inter-Tel programming issues it can be a bit tricky finding all the areas in the software that need to be adjusted. You will definitely want to dig out your manual, AND BACK UP THE SYSTEM PRIOR TO CHANGING SETTINGS!
If you're not comfortable with the system an even better option would be to contact one of the other Inter-Tel Moderators that do remote programming. They could have you set up in no time. I'm pretty sure DnRComm & RCA both do remote programming for new clients. I'm not sure if bullcube does, but he would be another good one to contact.

Ahh, that makes sense now....yes i'm fairly comfortable with DB programming, so i'll try to figure it out. (i usually can figure all this inter-tel stuff i just need to be pointed in the right direction).
I'll post back with my results.
Thanks! Andy

Spend a little time playing with it and now it's working. This is excellent!
One followup, is this subject to any licensing? How many users can I set this up for? If only a "licenced" amount any idea where i could check the # of licenses i have?
Thanks! Andy

Yeah it's REALLY nice isn't it? There are 5 licenses as I recall that come as part of the package. However you mentioned that you were using UM software I think. In that case you are probably already licensed for a set number of users using UM Level II or III which should cover this. If it won't allow you to add any more I suppose call Inter-Tel Sales. I'm sure they'll be willing to help
