One of our clients will not part with their old TA-308 KSU. They have three working TA30830 phones on the system. New KX-T7731 phones (on paper) should work on the station ports of that KSU. When plugged directly into the KSU station jack (using a two-pair station cord right out of the box) the new 7731 phones light immediately, display works (but is slow to respond), unit rings on incoming call BUT no audio, no dial tone as it acts like it's working in slow motion. Tried two different, brand new 7731s with other line cords and other working station jacks with no success.
Any suggestions?

Were you napping when you bought the TA-308? Buy a TA-824 on the secondary market (or email me privately and I'll make you an offer) and make sure it's a 2.0 or 3.0 whatever software. Then you unplug the TA-308xx phones and plug them into the new(ly) installed TA-824. Now everything will work.
