Im with paul144 on this. I have seen these cards blow so many times. Tomorrow night i will fire mine up and see if i get the same boot results. Your pictures and explanation of how you loaded software is correct, i see no problems there, thats why i lean to the card.

RCA,
Thanks for investigating my issue on your own system. I don't know if I should have mentioned this, as I do not know what is considered normal indicater lights on the box, but there is a red LED on the PC CPU card, which is constantly on....is that a normal status? Also, just to verify, that cable going from the VM (DSP) card to the ISA CPU board, is that just a standard IDE cable? Just trying to diagnose everything before I give up.

As far as red lights go, there should be two inside the cabinet. One on the main board in the corner and the other is on the voicemail pc card, that one should flash. There should not be any red lights on the outside front of the cabinet, only a green.
I don't know if that's a standard ide cable, knowing InterTel probably not.

Wow,
Ok, well definitely since day one when I began working on this unit, the red led on the PC CPU card has remained red and has never flashed. This is also the card that I have a dead battery on though. When I power the unit off for more than 2 minutes, then powering back up, all cmos settings are lost....hard drive type, date/time, etc. That is the battery that is soldered on. Does it only flash when the Axxent software has loaded or right frorm the start when powered on? There is nothing in the manual with regards to this LED.

That sounds normal.

The LED on the main board does i believe flash at first then goes solid. The LED on the VM card should flash always. I didnt have a chance to look my unit, busy monday.

Basically my boot up looks like yours. I didnt compare line by line just a few key areas. My guess is a bad VM card. Keep in mind that the Axxent Talk (voicemail) will not boot if there is a video/monitor card in one of the slots.

I do not have a video card installed. My main board LED is functioning correctly, briefly lights when powering on, then remains off. However as I said, the RED LED on the PC CPU ISA card remains solid red (not flashing like yours). I am starting to wonder if the dead battey has something to do with my problem. For the life of me I cannot figure out why Inter-tel would solder a battery to a circuit board that eventually needs to be replaced. When people replace the battery on the PC CPU ISA card, are they expected to toss the whole card?
Do you know where I might be able to get my hands on another PC CPU card?

No, sorry I do not have a card, and have never seen the battery go dead on one. Have seen the cards go bad, and most places that repair Axxents can send out a new one.

Just to clear this up, I believe you are misunderstanding each other. The LED on the CPU board should stay on solid after it finishes booting. The LED on the VM card should blink on and off. Are you getting any LED on the VM card?
