I have recently aquired a new customer with a Inter-Tel Axxess 5000 system running 8.1 software. I installed the system and everything works fine. The problem I encountered is some how I am unable to log in to program DB programming. I called the original (in New Hampshire) and he provided me with the password to access the DB software. Everything good, until I logged out and came back the next week, and could not access DB programming! 2 questions... 1-If I do a hard reset will it reset the password? (I do have the customer's orginal programming backed up) 2-If I do a hard reset do I need to reload DB software back into the system? (I do not have the software to do this. Nobody from the old office can find it)

Thanks, Steve

Well first off, there is no 'Axxess 5000' system. There is an Axxess version 8.1, but the highest released 5000 version is 2.1. I guess I would suggest we get a handle on exactly what system we are talking about here.

What happens when you try to connect?

Axxess system running software version 8.1. Sorry, it's what everyone kept calling it.

Using session manager everything seems to load or connect to system fine, but when I enter the password it gives me "incorrect password", I get three tries, then disconnects. I logged on originally, but now no longer can.

Well, it looks like the password has been changed. This might be a clue from yer OP:

"I called the original (in New Hampshire) and he provided me with the password to access the DB software. Everything good, until I logged out and came back the next week, and could not access DB programming!"

I'm not too sure what 'the original' is, but maybe it was the company/guy that installed the system? Maybe they remotely changed the p/w after talking to you? Sometimes foneguys aren't too keen on losing a customer...

I think hardly the case since I'm in Michigan and he's in New Hampshire. The system was physically moved to Michigan, and I installed it.

But it still brings me back to my two original questions:

1-If I do a hard reset will it reset the password?

2-If I do a hard reset do I need to reload DB software back into the system?

I just don't want to do a hard reset and need to re-install system software I don't have.

The p/w will only reset if the DB gets defaulted. That would be pretty unlikely and you would notice it right away. Also, the default password is 'No Password'.

You do not need to load DB software into the system after a reset.
