Ok, I am pretty new to this type of phone system. I work in a church. We have the IX-12KTD-2 phone.

The red message light in the upper right corner is flashing, along with the green light at the top of the phone.

Years and years ago a lady named Mary worked here and her name is above that red flashing message button, which also has a page button by it.

Normally when someone has a message, it shows up on the bottom row of extensions - 203, 204, etc, not up there. I have no idea what that extension is... I went through 200, 201 etc and nothing worked.

When I press message/# it shows 217 on the lcd display, so I am thinking that is the extension, but I cannot get into the mailbox as I do not have a password.

I looked in the manual and did not see anything helpful.

Anyone know if that indeed is the extension number (seems logical, but assuming doesn't always pan out), and how to hear the message since I also don't know the password?

I also need to be able to close that mailbox or have it forward to mine.

Many thanks for any guidance.

Clara

To identify this extension number call a different extension from this one and look at the called stations display to see where the call is coming from. As for the password you would need to login to a mailbox with system management rights to delete a mailbox pass code. By default there is no pass code until the user sets one.

thank you...

now to figure out which one has system management rights!

is there a way I can tell which one has system management rights? will the vm menu be different?

thanks very much for the help you have provided. One of the past office managers unfortunately was not very good at keeping records and making them easily accessible. Kind of flying a bit blind : )

ha, got it... so my mailbox is 202 but the phone I am using is 201 - so that was confusing!!! it kept saying ICM 217 on the lcd on my phone... not sure why as we do not have that many extensions... just 201 to 208...

thanks very much for the guidance. Learned a few new things today and now understand where to go to change our recorded message! Couldn't find it until now.

Thanks again!

The 217 you keep seeing is the extension number of the voice mail system. Mail box 201 probably has administrative rights- it does by default- so try changing the mail box pass code from there.

Sometimes the thoughts in my head get so bored, they go for a stroll through my mouth. This is rarely a good thing.
