Hi, We have an Inter-Tel axxess phone system and are using inter-tel 8.2 to program it. We have 15 employees that are being moved to different locations in the building. I wanted to know how to move the extensions to different locations (addresses) in the building. This way the voice mail stays the same and so forth. Thanks for your help.

The best way to do it is to use the Administrator's Guide and follow the directions for "swap extensions." If you don't have the Admin Guide, try a google search for it.

Thank you for that information it worked for phones at the main location. On the admin guide it says that extension swaps will only work on the same node. We have two locations that are connected by a point 2 point line are those on the same node? We have employees that are moving from one location to the other but would like to keep their same phone number is this possible? There are two inter-tel systems but only one of them has voice-mail but employees at both locations can use it. Thanks for your help.

That would be different nodes, and no you can not swap them that way.

Is there a way move an extension from one node to another? All the lines come in on one t1 line. The inter-tel systems are connected on a private t1 line between the two locations.

What you can do to keep the voicemail box intact is to de-program the extension you want to move to another node. Set the keyset port to 'none'. This will disassociate the voicemail box. Then change the extension number of an available keyset port on the other node to match the mailbox number. This will re-associate the mailbox. Any DID's etc. will need to be re-pointed to this new extension.

Drew is on the money on this. Keep in mind that once you set the port to none, any and all programming related to that endpoint is gone. When you go to reuse that port for another user you will need to reprogram every aspect of it's configuration.
