I've got an SMT-i5220 on an Officeserv 7200 that rings whenever the phone is off hook. Disabling off hook ringing stops it, but that's just treating the symptom and not the cause. There are approximately 60 extensions on the system and only one has this issue. Any suggestions?

What type of call?
What is your Fwd Busy set for?

As far as I could tell, this happens as soon as the user attempts to make or receive any kind of call. The tech who was onsite this morning said that the user had configured forwarding to her own extension. He cleared that, but it didn't solve the ringing issue.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish here? Disabling off hook ringing will stop that phone from ringing if another call comes in while that user is in a active conversation or using the phone. The only other way around is if you take the phone or phones out of the group that the calls are ringing into. What is the scenario that you have going on?

Let me try to clarify a bit. We want to keep the off hook ringing functionality. I have temporarily disabled off hook ringing on this one phone because it would immediately ring any time the user attempted to make a call and she continually received the "call waiting" tone any time she was in a conversation. It appears that there is generally no "real" call coming in when this happens. The system has been in operation for over a year and this issue just started last week.

nameless - I like the way you think. Something like that would definitely fit the symptoms we are seeing. Unfortunately, that wasn't it. I checked as soon as I saw your post. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
