Hi all,
We have an Axxess 5.2 system with an IPRC card using 1.2.2 firmware. Can we use any other IP-bsaed phone other than the Inter-Tel Eclipse2 branded models? If so, is there a certain specification I should look for to be able to make it work with our system? Thank you!

I'm just another customer, but I've been told no when I asked the same question. Supposedly, SIP enabled systems can use other phones. Axxess has some SIP capabilities, but you'd have to get that information from someone much more qualified than myself.

since the version of iprc you have is PAL based instead contrelled through a license like newer axxess models, you are restricted to older style inter-tel ip phones. Model 770.4500/4600's. If you upgraded your system to 9.1 or above, you could do ip phone programming through your session manager instead of the web interface on the phone. Also, you would have access to newer style ip phones like the 550.8662E/8622P's and ip softphone. You still would not be able to connect to any generic sip phone though. But the hardware quality is much improved in the newer style phones(better voice quality). at the very least, upgrade you current iprc to version 1.5.2, which is the highest version you can use for PAL based iprc. hope this helps, sorry for the long winded post!

There are a few phones that can be flashed with firmware compatable with 1.x IPC/IPRC firmware such as the 8660 and the 8620 and 8600 (I believe these actually ship with the older firmware now)
