Customer has cisco phone sets connected to a cisco pbx/router. Last summer phones were displaying eastern standard time instead of eastern daylight time. I logged into the router using the web interface. This was easy because the router IP address was the same as the network's default gateway and the password was taped to the router. The router was found to be using some time server that I did not recognize. I changed the router to use a time server at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Also the time zone setting on the router was changed from Pacific to Eastern and the adjustment for daylight savings was enabled.
The phones then displayed the correct time. However the phone sets did not fall back to displaying eastern standard time this fall. They are still displaying eastern daylight time now in December! How can I get the phones to display the correct time and to make the changeover to daylight savings time automatically?
They do not have a Cisco maintenance contract. Their Cisco software is about 5 years old, and I had to install an older version of Java on my PC to use its web interface.
