Hi, our office has a NEC phone system and we use NEC DT300 series. One of the phones doesn't have its mailbox and I'm wondering about how to add/configure a mailbox to that phone. It had a mailbox before we move the office and it somehow disappeared.
Your advise is highly appreciated. Thank you,

IF you cannot press the "VMmsg" softkey under the screen and take you to the mailbox i'm guess the mailbox was undefinded or removed.
Which in that case you need to go in to 47:XX and redefine it or create it.

When A customer tells me:
"One of the phones doesn't have its mailbox"
then sometimes the problem is that call forwarding has been cancelled.
What happens when you call that extension? Does it ring indefinitely?
What happens when you call that extension while it is in a busy condition? Do you hear a busy signal?

Thank you for your message. I can press the "VMsg" but then it says "please enter the mailbox number". Usually it says "please enter the security code". Mailbox removed does make sense to me. what is 47:xx? it it something I can do from the administrator phone?

Thank you. When I call that extension, it rings properly like other phones. I never hear a busy signal even it is in a busy condition.

Sounds like there is no mailbox defined for that extension - as oobie states, you will need to have it added to the system - 47-xx is programming code for mailbox entry - will probably also need 24-xx programmed for call forwarding to voicemail once defined. To be safe, you should contact an NEC certified tech to set it up for you.

Sounds more like a UM8000 voicemail prompt vs InMail. You will have to log into the voicemail as the system administrator and add a mailbox. Someone should have been given access when the system was setup, if not, you'll have to log in via web browser and create mailbox or add manager status to existing mailbox.
