Does anybody know what size and amperage the teeny fuse is on a new style ACS 5 slot backplane, AND where I might find some?

15 amp fuse....assuming you are in the United States.

Don't forget grounding to comply with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 1459 As explained in the installation manual page 2-2

God, no. It's 4 amp and I'm looking at what I have which is Buss GDA-4A.

Now, be advised that that fuse doesn't blow by itself. It always means that one of the mods power supplies has crapped out. The way to find which one is to remove each module and plug a power cord directly into each one. Keep your face away because the offending one is going to blow up like a roman candle. Replace the module with a new one and replace the fuse.

And I haven't grounded a Partner system since I had processors destroyed because of a voltage difference between wherever you connect the ground and the receptacle ground. Both the green ground on the line cord and the ground screw are connected together internally via a circuit board trace that will burn up like a fuse if there is any current through it. So, if you are going to use the ground screw it MUST be connected to the receptacle ground that the system is plugged into- if you can find something that brings that ground out at the receptacle. As far as I'm concerned the grounded line cord works just fine by itself.

Buy extra fuses and add modules to the carrier one-by-one until you blow it again. Toss the bad module and replace the fuse one more time. No fire in your face that way

Awww, that's no fun. And why waste fuses? Besides, my way is a lot quicker.
