Is there a way to put a voice announce feature on a function key? When one of the users wants to intercom/transfer, the destination phone rings. Sometimes, they simply want to page (voice announce) a particular set. What they would like to do is have a separate function key that they could press and then either press a DSS key or dial the extension number to announce to another set.
Is this possible? I'm racking my brain on how to make this work. They don't like how currently they intercom, it starts ringing the destination extension, and then they press Voice to access voice announce.

You can't put it in a button but you can change the default on each extension to either Ring or VA as soon as the extension is dialed. I have a site with an SL1100 that the office sets all ring when called but the phones in the floor of the retail space all default to VA when called.

When you call an extension and its set to ring press 1 on the key pad and it will switch to voice announce.
If you call any extension that is set for voice announce by pressing 1 after calling the extension will force it to ring.
This applies to the SL1100, SL2100, SV8100 and SV9100

Call an extension, then press the Voice or Ring softkey.

Thanks for the tips. Customer would just like a key that rings the extension and a key that voice announces the extension. I'll inform them of the options mentioned above and we'll go from there.

Unfortunately, you can't do that with this system. I'm guessing they came from a Nortel environment where it's always ring or press voice call first and then dial ext. In the NEC systems each extension has a default of either Ring or voice announce and then when another extension calls that extension they can press 1 or the soft key to switch from whatever that default is.

Try making one key the ext number (101) and the other key you want to do the opposite (P1001).
