I am trying to replace a defective 5312 IP phone. I programmed the new MAC address in form 09 (desktop devices). When resetting the phone it goes through the startup process. I get an error message saying L2 & boot download error before the display shows SET IP 192.168.1.12 ICP 192.168.166.10.
All programming on this system is done via the serial connection using hyperterminal or Procomm.

I found out that the phone had to be reset to factory default by holding the up volume control while phone reboots. A menu comes up where you can reset to default DHCP or program IP address if needed.
