What are you guys doing special (if anything) to connect to 4.4 Axxess systems using an XP Pro laptop? I can not get it to work no matter what I do.

I saw on the Edge that it is compatible and have seen other techs talking how it works with no problems. I've tried to change the compatibility mode etc. all to no avail. I just keep getting the error message about how the Win 16 subsystem is unstable......

Any thoughts?

im no phone system expert by any means... but i have quite a bit of experience supporting most versions of windows...

firt... make sure you are not using 64bit winXP pro... if your on 64bit... there it wont work... period. 64 bit windows uses WOW to run 32 bit applications and older 16 bit apps wont even run (like ur situation).

16 bit apps run in Windows NT Virtual DOS Machine(NTVDM), which i dont believe is available on 64 bit windows.

if ur on 64 bit... i think ur only choice is going to be to virtualize something like win98 or 95 in something like VirualBox (free)... not the most elegant solution... but would work. win 98 and 95 images are easily found on the net these days.

I have 4.2 at home and never had any issues running the DB programming software on XP or Server 2003 boxes (32 bit).

The only issue I can remember was with version 4.1. There was some type of connectivity issue which needed a patch, but I don't remember it as an XP problem.
