Customer wants new phones. The existing cabling is a joke. I was doing a demo and plugged my 18D phone where her old phone is and it did not work. I plugged phone directly into the system and worked but no display. They are currently using a mix of MLS-12 phones and analog phones. I am going to do some re cabling. I was wondering if a Partner-6 phone could be used. Also to double check the cabling it uses 2 pair USOC. Thanks in advance.

1.0 software!!!!!

I suggest you get the acs. Works good with VM and the 18D phones. Can use sl instruments. I havent seen a 1.0 in many years. Minimum should be at least 4.1

Considering the average life expectancy of equipment is 5-7 years, they have gotten twice the use out of their investment. Mitch is right, upgrade to an ACS. Refurbed ones can be had for less than $300. Get a 3.0 or higher ACS, the 1.0 & 2.0 were limited in production and had some problems.

I spent two hours with them yesterday on demoing a 4.0 ACS they are not interested. All they want is some new phones. I was thiking that a partner-6 phones would work. They have a mix of analog, MLS-12 and a 8020 phones. I plugged my 18D where the 8020 style phone is and 18D was deader than a doornail. But worked just fine when I plugged it into the system except for the display not working. Thier wiring is basicly hand terminated 8 pin mod connectors and endline adapters, patch cords. I am going to give them a quote on redoing the cabling. They want 4 phones and are using 2 CO lines. I am guessing that the ACS 1.0 is using standard two pair USOC pinout.

You keep talking about an ACS 1.0, but I think you really have a 206 module. Easy to tell them apart. The ACS is grey and has 3 lines and 8 phones. The 206 is ivory, and has two lines and 6 phones. We refer to this as a stand alone 206. If you are using a stand alone 206 or a 206 in conjunction with a Partner processor release 1 or 2, they will not accpet display telephones. You must have a partner 3.0 or higher in order for displays to work.

Hey Z man thanks for setting me straight it is a 206 stand alone module. I did'nt that you could use a 206 module on its own. I am also guessing that you could do the same the with the 308EC module. I am also guessing that since display dose not work on a 206 mod you can not do any programing. I am guessing that with either using the 206 and 308 modules on their own you can't do any programing. I REALLY do appreicate the info guys. Have a merry Christmass.

the 308EC is like a 206E, will not stand alone. a 206, "baby partner" will stand alone.

Hey Sam, do yourself a favor, welcome to the phone biz but before you commit yourself, go to avaya's website and download there manuals and get familar with the system. The Partner is the perfect system for a "NEWBIE". It is very easy to install and program, then from there you can step up to a Mitel SX200!!!!

Thanks Mitch I did'nt know I could download manuals from avaya. I baught a demo setup in the spring I have the manual for the 4.0. But it did'nt go into the older modules much. I am guessing the you really can't program the 206 stand alone much. The more I work with the partner the more I like it for smaller businesses. And people who don't want to spend a lot for a system. Again thanks for all the info guys. I REALLY do appreicate it.

the biggest downfall of a partner system is ... once it is in you don't get many return service calls!
