I have a Partner ACS Processor R3.0, a 308EC R3.0 and a Partner Mail VS R5.0

What am I missing out on not having a Processor R5.0? Do you recommend an upgrade?

I have 10 extensions and 5 Phone lines.

Your not really missing out on anything, If your R3 is working good I would keep using it.

Depends on your area and the work you are having done. In general, most reputable companies will charge between $75-$125 per hour for service. You might find a few that are less, but beware. I wouldn't pay anymore than $125 for a service call, and that is on the high side as well. Larger companies such as Avaya, NEC Direct, Siemens, etc, target the corporate world, so their rates reflect that. I have seen a service call by a siemens/rolm technician run a customer $150 per hour, with a minimum of 4 hours billed. Smaller companies usually will have better rates, only have 1 hour minimums, and provide a more personable service, just make sure they are knowledable in your equipment. When in doubt, ask for some references.

dballif,
We are located in West Jordan (just over the freeway) give us a call. Our number is in my profile. We charge $65.00 an hour. I didn't realize you were so close until I saw you were in Sandy. (It's a small world)

Z-man, if you charged 75-125 here you wouldn't get any work.As you all know - different states different rates

That's why I gave him the ball park figure of $75-$125, telling him it depends on where you are at. In my first post I should have been a bit more specific. When I said beware of people charging less than $70 per hour, I should have said beware of the people who are charging far below the normal rate for your area, unless of course, they are offering a first time customer discount or something to that effect. In Denver, our range of rates is about $70-$125 per hour.I charge $70 per hour, but the average here in Denver is closer to $95-100, plus trip charges. The rates were even higher before the economy went south, now they have softened a bit. A customer in Denver should be wary of the person who is charging them $40 per hour. I can't speak for all the markets in the country. When I worked in Kansas, we charged $35 for a half hour and $60 for an hour. The Guys in NYC are getting upwards of $150 per hour with two hour minimums. I guess it kind of goes with the cost of living a bit. You could ask every poster on this forum and you would get a broad range of labor rates. According to my sources, $65 an hour in your area is a good rate for your customers. If they moved to Denver, I would have to squeeze another $5 out of them. Helps cover my higher costs for gas and insurance on the company vehicle among other things. Hope this clears up any confusion with my earlier post.
