Am I dreaming or what......but is it possible the last 2 slots on the 820 could be dead, YET the first 10 extensions work fine????

very possible. time for an upgrade. they are still cheap as well if you need to replace.

I have seen them where you have dead slots in the middle of the the groups. Just 1 or 2.

try tuning off the system, unplug everything going into the system. pull all the cards, put everything back in and turn the system back on.
the merlin tends to get a lot of static in the system. that usaly clears it
