Edit* sorry tried to edit title.. not a merlin messaging problem, its actually just the WINSPM
this started about a week ago.
when i log in to WinSPM .. things seem fine.. asks for name and pass.
then when i try to Click Connect.. nothing happens. anyone seen this?

What version Winspm and what operating system? Did you change computers, modems, or operating systems? I had this problem with XP until upgraded Winspm to the R8 and above. Also the onboard modems on laptops don't always work the best. An external U.S. robotics always works solid.
On a similar note, I was always having connections go flakey after a few minutes of being logged in. Would have to dial in several times to complete a session. Was frustrating to say the least! Found that the external modem stopped that problem. I think the motherboards with built in modems have noise issues. Lucent/Avaya products don't like noisey connections and will drop or flake out.
