Unable to restore legend phone system after reset password of 007 MLM voice mail, backup and upgrade to R7, ver.10.

The message is " Dial code 119 s/p 04/04 ",
then " Change sys programming port to extension before restoring ".

Reset password of VM, backup, upgrade and restore were performed through MLX20L console
which is plugged into first port of 408 GS/LS
MLX module.

Your help would be highly appreciated.

It's telling you that you need to change your system programming port to *0404, from its default of #01, before you will be able to restore the converted translations.

You'll find that option under System Programming. You may also need to set the mode to match the previous configuration.

Thanks for your reply.
I do not understand "0404". Does it mean that re-mumber console ext. # from 100 to 404 or change program port from physical location from
#1 to 404?
Original program port was #1 port of whole system and extension # was 133 (which I marked
on a piece of scrape paper.)
Thanks, again

Well, not knowing how your cards are configured: "*0404" refers to the 4th port up from the bottom of the 4th card in the system (counting the processor as card 0). So I'm guessing that you have a processor, then 3 cards that are not MLX cards, and then the 408 GS/LS MLX card.

Now a couple of questions:

You had a Legend, release earler than 7.0?

You have used a flash upgrade card to take it to 7.0?

Did you save your translations to a PC before the upgrade, and convert them to 7.0 to reload from the PC?

Just trying to figure out what you have, and what you are trying to do.

Original configuration is processor cke 3, 408 gs/ls mlx, 408 g/s mlx, 800 did, and 007 mlm. Original release was 4.
System was backed up with translation card.
I used "upgrade card" to change software release from 4 to 7. All hardwares remain
unchanged.

Thanks

first of all you have to backup the R4 to the laptop, Do the upgrade to the processor, Convert the R4 backup file to an R7 using WinSPM, then Restore the backup from the newly converted backup file.

From what you said in you first post you backed it up using the console and your later post states "backed up with translation card"

If you did not back it up to a laptop you will either have to fine an R4 processor to restore the flash card to so you can back it up to the laptop or reprogram the R7 from scratch because the R4 backup on the card is no good in anything but an R4.

You are stuck.

You can't restore from the translation card.

The correct procedure would have been to use WinSPM on a PC, and download the translations to a file on the PC. Then use a utility in WinSPM called "convert" to create a NEW file that is compatable with R7. At this point you use the upgrade card to change the R4 into an R7, and finally, you restore the new R7 with the converted file stored on your PC.

Unfortunatly, you're going to need to reprogram from scratch. However, with only 2 MLX Cards, a DID, and a Voice Mail, it's probably not too complicated.

Thank you very much for the help!
I did re-program from scratch. Another problem is 4-port VM lost last 2 ports (VM3 &
VM4). During Merlin Mail System Initial Programming (Release 3, page 3-4 in chapter 3, step 7), I could not input extension numbers of VM3 & 4.
I used MLX-20L console to program.
