I have what I believe is a Definity G1. I hooked it all up and tried to boot the system. When I was watching it on the terminal it said that it couldn’t find the tape. Of course there is no tape in the drive it didn’t come with one. Does anyone know for sure what version I have and where I can get a tape for this thing?
Here is the system hardware TN765 v21 TN773 V19 TN770 v3 TN774 v5 TN777 v5
Thanks

Check out the tape drive size and type and you should be able to get this at Radio Shack or if not try 3M's site.

The software of the system is on the Tape.
The system will not come up without a legit tape in the drive.

If memory serves me right, it is a 2 track tape. 1 track for the software and 1 track for the Translations

I have some old 8 tracks, but that may be too advanced for that system.

I know this thread is a couple of months old, but hopefully someone is still looking at it. I am looking at a project that has a Definity System 75. Something happened that the tape unit is bad and it started to eat the tape. From my I am seeing here that tape is more than just the translations it is also O/S, which means they are SOL. Is that right? I am guessing with a system this old there is no way to replace that O/S or is there?
Any info will be greatly appreciated. Don
