Go to that station and press Feature 10 and that station number and it should go off, some has turned it on.

Actually you can turn them off from any extension. Feature 10 and the extension number where you want to turn the light off.
If they mysteriously come back on again it's the messaging system doing it. Usually a reset will take care of it. Let us know.

Hal is correct but I like to have them go right to the station with the light on, makes it faster to see if it's on or off.

in regard to message lights, if the light doesn't come on after a message is left, is it the switch or the voice mail itself that is bad?

Generally if you can turn them on and off with feature 09 and 10 the switch is operating properly, the messaging system just sends that DTMF information. The problem could be caused by not having all your VM ports assigned properly.
Other than that, a system reset will cure many problems.

You didn't tell us which Voice Mail system you're using, but if the mailbox's phone status is set to No Phone, or a Class of Service equivalent, it won't even try to light the light.

the voicemail is a large mail PC card, it was working fine when it was in the previous system. the customer upgraded their voicemail at their office and we put the old voicemail in an ACS 4.0 in their house. But, none of the ext's lights go on when a message is left. Any ideas?
