Do you have your fax extension assigned to hunt group 8? I find that it usually causes false CNG detect. Unless you absolutly need to use it, take the extension out.

Not sure if this is a valid comment, TTT obviously has more exp. or he wouln't be a moderator. Send fax's to a seperate extension/hunt group? John

The deal with Hunt Group 8 is the automatic CNG detection. When a call is answered by an Auto Attendant, and CNG tone is detected (or mistakenly detected), the system will automatically transfer to hunt group 8, if there are any members.

If the FAX line isn't part of the incoming call group, but still needs to be on the phones so it can be used for outbound calling, you would take it out of group 8, and simply program the FAX extension for Immediate Ring on the FAX line, No Ring on all the other lines. Other extensions get No Ring on the FAX line, and appropiate ringing on the other lines. No CNG needed.

If they are doing something like using the last rollover of the incoming lines for FAX, have the telco take it out of the hunt group.

I have found that it generally seems to be when the voice mail greeting is a woman, with a higher-pitched voice. I solved one by simply having someone else record the greeting. Of course, the best solution is to get away from the fax detection issue altogether.
